San Felipe Castle guards the entrance to the Ferrol estuary and is one of the city's most striking military landmarks. Built between the 16th and 18th centuries, it formed part of a defensive system protecting Ferrol's strategic naval port.
Set on a rocky headland, the fortress offers wide views over the Atlantic and the surrounding coastline, making it as rewarding for its scenery as for its historical significance.
